Beth Forbes (she/her/hers)
Beth Forbes began her nonprofit career in 2005 at a community art center after attaining a BA in English and an MA in digital arts. There she managed two galleries, adult and youth art education programs, and a public art program. Firmly dedicated to nonprofits, but with a desire to put her writing skills to use, she transitioned to a career in grant writing. She now operates Elizabeth Forbes Consulting, partnering with large and small organizations to create winning proposals to government, foundation, and corporate funders.
Beth has primarily worked with human services organizations with subject matter experience that spans homelessness, affordable housing development, basic needs, medical and behavioral health, technology, employment, and more. With an affinity for government proposals, she has helped clients secure more than $40 million in awards throughout her career. Funders include numerous local and regional agencies as well as federal entities such as the Departments of Labor, Housing and Urban Development, and Veterans Affairs.
After stints on both coasts, Beth recently resettled in her home state of Michigan where she enjoys reading, the outdoors, attending concerts, and having her life ruled by her two cats.
My favorite thing about this work: I love the challenge of piecing together the proposal puzzle to convey my client organizations’ strengths and help them succeed in their admirable missions.
