Interfaith Works

Building a human service organization’s fundraising program, one grant at a time.

The mission of Interfaith Works is “to work together with our communities to serve our neighbors in need and advocate for an end to poverty in Montgomery County.” They have a well-regarded reputation in Montgomery County, Maryland, and the greater Washington, D.C. area, based on their nearly 50-year presence supporting people living in poverty or experiencing homelessness. When RBW Strategy began working with them in 2015, the goal was to ensure that existing grants were renewed in the following year and apply to local funders.

As the organization’s fundraising program continued to grow, RBW Strategy secured more grant funding year after year from new (and existing) corporate, government, and private funding sources. In addition to finding more prospects for them to pursue, RBW Strategy began to work closely with program directors and leadership to involve them in the grants process, helping them develop a logic model and create standard templates for grant attachments.

The development of a successful grants program is a marathon, not a sprint. Our work over the past five years demonstrates that incremental changes can lead to positive outcomes for the organization and the greater Montgomery County community.
