The Lupus Foundation of America (Foundation), founded in 1977 and based in Washington, D.C. is the national force devoted to solving the mystery of lupus, one of the world’s cruelest, most unpredictable, and devastating diseases, while giving caring support to those who suffer from its brutal impact. Through a comprehensive program of research, education, and advocacy, they fight to improve the quality of life for all people affected by lupus. For 40 years, the Lupus Foundation of America has fought to end the chronic disease Lupus and support those impacted through education, research, and advocacy. Their efforts have secured $615 million in federal research in the past five years alone. RBW Strategy began working with the Foundation organization in 2015. Through our successful collaboration, they were awarded a 5-year multi-million dollar grant through the Centers for Disease Control. After the grant was awarded, the Foundation organization quickly realized that management support was required to support oversee the project and ensure compliance with federal requirements.

RBW Strategy worked with the team to train staff on programmatic and financial federal grants compliance, and provide support on post-award reporting, internal controls and policy development, procurement. and other related issues.

Federal grants compliance is essential to retaining federal dollars, and ultimately support the objectives of improved outcomes for those suffering from lupus.

Through this collaboration, the Foundation organization has developed an awareness of grants compliance and has a more robust infrastructure to manage grants. They were awarded another federal grant as well, to which RBW Strategy provided additional post-award support.
